First Baptist Tooele Core Beliefs
God
There is one and only one Living and True God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being. He is the Creator and Sustainer and Ruler of the universe, and He is Redeemer; there is no other Savior. God is infinite in Holiness, and all other perfections. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The Eternal God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being. (Leviticus 11:44; Isaiah 43:10-11; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:17)

Christ - God the Son
We believe that Jesus is God the Son, the Creator, who took on flesh to live a perfect life by fulfilling all works of righteousness, and then died for all of mankind on the cross. (John 1:1-3; John 1:14; Matthew 3:15; Hebrews 4:15)
He was buried, then rose from the grave three days later. After spending forty days with His disciples He ascended into Heaven, where He waits with God the Father until He comes back to gather His children at the end of Redemptive History. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-11)
Scripture
We believe that the Bible is infallable, inerrant, and the only Authoritative Word of God, and it has been given to us for everything we need to know regarding life and godliness. (Deuteronomy 32:46-47; 2 Peter 1:3-4)
Although God used many human writers in recording the Bible, God the Holy Spirit is the One who inspired all Scripture to be written. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21)
salvation
The Bible says that God desires no one to perish. We believe the Bible when it says that if we repent of our sins, putting our faith in Jesus alone, and ask Him to forgive us and save us from our sins that He does just that. (Romans 10:8-10) We believe that ultimately there are only two possible destinations for people – Heaven and Hell; and as Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me." (John 14:6) The Bible is very clear that salvation includes the gift of eternal life. Eternal life cannot be earned, it can only be received, which occurs when you repent and put your faith in Jesus Christ alone. (Romans 6:23; 1 John 5:11-12)
Eternity
God has promised that a day of Christ's Return is coming, and that after that He will make all things new, and the Eternal Age will begin. To be a part of God's eternal kingdom you need the gift of eternal life. The Bible teaches that the only way we can receive the gift of Eternal Life (be saved) is through faith in Jesus Christ; by that, we mean faith that Jesus is the Only Savior, and that He has done all that needs to be done for our salvation. The Bible teaches that receiving in Christ we receive the right to become children of God, and that we will dwell with our Lord throughout eternity. (John 1:12; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
